Dear Oxford Parents and Supporters,
Looks like the new
school year has taken off successfully and we give all the
credit to the hard working school staff, students and, of
course, the parents. It will be another wonderful year at
Oxford. As we have in the past, we are committed to
provide necessary resources to promote the educational
advancement and success of our students.
As we all know, our
district is suffering from the immense cuts that all
public institutions are experiencing. In addition, as a
school of choice, Oxford does not get some categorical
funds like EIA and ELAP that other schools get. In fact,
some schools in our district get almost $2 million more
than Oxford per year. This is why the foundation works so
hard to raise money to provide quality learning
environment.
Last year, we were
able to equip classrooms with various hi-tech educational
equipments, purchase classroom supplies for all teachers,
pay for remodeling of the multipurpose room, pay for
additional staff time to extend library hours, help
counselors visit college admission officers to build
relationships, and we also paid for training for school
staff. We even helped the robotics club get started and
gave scholarships to seniors. We anticipate that we will
have more significant needs in the upcoming year.
We’d like to ask
Oxford parents to consider participating in 2010-2011
Direct Investment Drive. Our goal is 100% participation.
We suggest $250 tax deductible investment per child but we
value and appreciate all donations. Every investment,
regardless of the amount, counts toward our goal of 100%
participation.
You can make a
credit card donation on our website or you can
use the enclosed return envelope. To maximize your
donation, don’t forget to ask your employer about a
corporate matching program. Every donation is tax
deductible and kept strictly confidential.
As we already know, in
many ways, Oxford provides a much better learning
environment than private schools without the private
school tuition.
Your ongoing support will make Oxford even better place of
learning for your child(ren).
On behalf of the students at Oxford Academy, we thank you
for investing in their education.
Sincerely,
Steve Hwangbo
